At the urging of my friend, coach Aniruddha Damle we formed a youth league in February 2020 so my students and his students could play more table tennis and improve their skills through additional practice time. We found that 1 hour long training sessions once a week were not enough and after a few months of practicing children lost interest.
The league meets on Sundays during regular ‘Table tennis open gym’ sessions from 8:30 – 11:00 am at the Eola Community Center in Aurora. The cost for each session is $4. There is no cost to participate in the league.
After a few weeks of playing, the kids got new t-shirts to encourage them to play and create a sense of belonging. These are Stiga Heaven Polo t-shirts we got at Paddle Palace for $28.
We run the league using USATT’s software which is hosted on the simplycompete.com website. Here are the current league players and their league ratings. You will need to create a login i.e. username and password to access this information. Once you login, click ‘Search Leagues’, select by City and enter ‘Aurora’. Click on league named ‘Fox Valley Youth League’ and a list of players will appear. These ratings are separate from USATT tournament ratings.
